Rabbi Yehuda Ptaya or Petaya was born on January 7, 1859 (2 Shevat 5619) in Baghdad and died on August 10, 1942 (27 Av 5702) in Jerusalem. He is considered one of the greatest Kabbalists of the 20th century.
He is the author of numerous works published both during his lifetime and after his death. These include very profound commentaries on particularly difficult passages from the Zohar, as well as on the writings of the Arizal.
RabbiYehuda Ptaya owes his fame to a fascinating and fantastical book about his activities in Baghdad, in which he recounts in detail how he speaks with spirits and heals the sick who are possessed by wandering souls; Minhat Yehuda
You have to read this book to understand that Kabbalah is the voice of inner life, but also hard work—the work of perceiving the worlds.
