A wonderful book by our friend Jean Baumgarten about a very ancient kabbalistic legend, the figure of Joseph de la Reina a kabbalist who sought to subdue the forces of evil and bring the Messiah. This tale is recounted in numerous kabbalistic works, notably in the Pardess Rimonim by Rabbi Moshe Cordovero.
Jean Baumgarten presents here several versions of this legend, translated from Hebrew and Yiddish.
